I don't do Halloween so here is a copy of a rather old etching done by drawing into wet stopout.

Messed up the submission AGAIN!
Someone's tricking me.

looks like a pretty scary mealtime, happy halloween. Love the little guy at the head of the table.

Longstockings forgets we aren't all from America! This is very funny and ummmmm ... my family tell me I should wear a bib at dinnertime
;)

PS: Might try drawing directly into stopout some time ... my stop out 'cracks' easily though ...

The difficult bit is judging the point at which the asphaltum is wet but not runny, and being quick; Soft-ground is more 'proper', but I gave it all up anyway.

I don't know what you guys are talking aobut with stopout - but I think the drawing is great

You would have had to work super fast! Good way to keep free :) I only do etching these days ... or should be.

It was in response to a challenge, the tutor had noticed I was wasting time. Raw plate to proof in one hour.

Ohhhh, so THAT'S how the contents of the plate landed all over you! Hhehheee.

One hour is pretty good for proofing, especially in a class :)

You know how to speak Ebonics?

ElizT said...

No, why?

Is the etching jargon tiresome? I didn't even mention acid, mull, or dollies; then there's open-bite, even spit-bite but I've forgotten most of it. Fortunately.

i find it scary too, i hated mealtimes in my youth... 'children are to be seen but not heard' always in our house.
