His name was Lofty, he lived in this paddock next to our house and each week was harnessed to a cart to take a load of soap to somewhere in the town. I think the soap was made by his man in a shed on the property. This seemed archaic at the time, even though many years ago now. Lofty was always on the lookout for treats, including stupid and inappropriate ones, but this was the quickest route to our shops.

He wanted the bread or an apple.
Lovely drawing
those huge hooves, i can 'see' them plodding along.
i share a similar anxiety around certain sized animals.. cows and sheep in large numbers are also unsettling and sinister..
great work as always.. beautiful characters
Ooooh I love anything with horses in it - adorable illustration!
Big horse, little kid, crazy mom, equal lots of anxiety.

I love your horse illustrations! (this one and your other ones)- very sweet and simple, yet so expressive : )
